FUNCTIONAL LAB TESTING
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis
A non-invasive at-home test that reveals your body's mineral balance, toxic metal burden, and metabolic patterns over the past 3–4 months.
ABOUT THE TEST
What Is HTMA?
Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) is a simple, painless test that measures the levels of essential minerals and toxic metals stored in your hair tissue. Unlike blood tests, which only capture a snapshot of what’s circulating in your blood at that moment, HTMA reflects 3–4 months of mineral activity at the cellular level.
Minerals are the spark plugs of your metabolism. They drive nearly every enzymatic reaction in your body — energy production, detoxification, hormone balance, stress response, and more. When minerals are imbalanced, symptoms follow: fatigue, anxiety, brain fog, sleep issues, digestive trouble, hormonal disruption, and weakened immunity.
HTMA gives us a practitioner’s-eye view into your mineral status and metabolic patterns, so we can build a protocol that actually addresses the root cause — not just the symptoms.
INSIGHTS YOU’LL GAIN
What HTMA Can Reveal
A window into the biochemical patterns that drive how you feel every day.
MINERAL DEFICIENCIES
Low magnesium, zinc, potassium, or other essential minerals that affect energy, sleep, and mood.
HEAVY METAL BURDEN
Long-term accumulation of lead, mercury, cadmium, aluminum, and arsenic in your tissues.
ADRENAL & STRESS PATTERNS
How your body is handling stress, and whether you’re in burnout, exhaustion, or high alert.
METABOLIC TYPE
Whether you’re a fast, slow, or mixed oxidizer — affecting how you process food and energy.
THYROID FUNCTION
Hidden thyroid imbalances that standard thyroid panels may miss, based on mineral ratios.
COPPER IMBALANCE
A common but overlooked cause of anxiety, racing thoughts, PMS, fatigue, and mood swings.

COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked
How is HTMA different from a blood test?
Blood tests reveal what’s circulating in your blood right now. HTMA reveals what’s stored in your tissues over the past 3–4 months. The two tests answer different questions and work best together — blood tests for acute, medical diagnostics; HTMA for long-term nutritional planning and mineral patterns.
Is HTMA painful or invasive?
Not at all. You simply cut a small hair sample from the back of your head (about a tablespoon’s worth, from the hair closest to your scalp). The full collection takes about 2 minutes. No needles, no clinic visits, no blood draws.
Can I still do HTMA if my hair is dyed, treated, or short?
Yes. For colored/treated hair, you’ll want to wait at least 4–6 weeks after treatment before testing for the most accurate results. If your scalp hair is too short, body hair (underarm, chest, or pubic) can be used. Avoid medicated shampoos like Head & Shoulders, Selsun Blue, or Grecian Formula for 2 weeks before collection.
Who is HTMA ideal for?
HTMA is especially helpful for people dealing with chronic fatigue, anxiety, sleep issues, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems, thyroid concerns, unexplained weight changes, heavy metal exposure concerns, or those simply wanting a comprehensive picture of their long-term mineral status.
How often should I retest?
Most clients retest every 3–6 months to track progress and adjust their protocol as patterns shift. Mineral balance is a moving picture, and retesting lets us see what’s working and refine the approach.
Is this a medical diagnosis?
No. HTMA is a screening and educational tool — not a medical diagnostic test. It provides valuable insights into mineral and metabolic patterns, but it is not used to diagnose disease. All findings are reviewed in the context of your overall symptoms, history, and goals.
